Claims Management Philosophy


ERNWest puts our best claims managers as close to the newest claims as possible so they can use their experience and expertise to identify the claims that have the characteristics of high dollar claims early in the process to PREVENT the claims from becoming high dollar claims in the first place.


Regardless of how minor the claim appears to be, upon receipt of the incident report from the employer (or the claim from L&I), an ERNWest claims manager will perform an initial review of the claim to determine if there are any “exceptional claim” characteristics.  If it appears it could be more than a very basic claim, the claims manager will immediately work with the employer on a plan to minimize an injured employee’s time off work, such as kept-on-salary and/or modified duty plan to minimize employee’s time off work, obtain an employment history, and determine how aggressively to manage the medical aspects of claim.

While many other companies wait for the claim to get bad before they send help, ERNWest spends the time and effort up front so resources can be deployed before any significant damage occurs.
